What this role is
We're hiring our first outbound sales hire.
We already have strong product-led growth with:
10B+ searches/mo
30M+ downloads
25K+ GitHub stars
1000s of active customers
Your job is to discover and build a repeatable outbound motion on top of what's already working.
You'll be working directly with the founder and a solutions engineer who handles technical depth and production conversations.
What you'll do
- Build outbound pipeline using signal-based prospecting and targeting companies similar to our best customers.
- Run discovery and full-cycle sales conversations with engineers, technical leaders, and procurement teams.
- Work with our Solutions Engineer to move deals through technical validation.
- Close new enterprise customers in the $40K – $300K+ ACV range.
- Help define and shape what a repeatable outbound motion looks like.
What success looks like
- You're getting thoughtful replies from technical buyers.
- You're building a pipeline of qualified, high-intent opportunities.
- You're closing deals in the $40K to $300K+ ACV range.
- We start to see a repeatable motion in outbound.
Quota is $1M ARR. You're expected to hit it and help define how we get there consistently.
Why this role is interesting
- Strong existing PLG motion — you're not starting from zero.
- Proven enterprise usage (customers already spending $100K+).
- You're selling into real production use cases, not experiments.
- High autonomy and direct access to founder and product engineering.
- We are a profitable, revenue-funded company and don't follow the typical "growth-at-all-costs" playbook of VC-backed companies.
- If you're successful in this role, you'll have the opportunity to shape and lead how the sales team is built at Typesense.
Who this is for
- You've sourced and closed your own deals before, in a quota carrying capacity.
- You're comfortable initiating outbound conversations with engineers and technical teams.
- You're able to talk the talk to build credibility and rapport with a highly technical audience — you should be able to articulate why a developer would choose Typesense over market incumbents without needing a Solutions Engineer to join the call.
- You don't need a playbook — you can create one.
- You like figuring things out from scratch.
- You're comfortable with ambiguity and iteration.
- Nice to have: You've worked in the dev tools or infra space previously, or have a computer science background.
Who this is not for
- You rely on SDRs or inbound leads for pipeline.
- You prefer structured processes and defined playbooks.
- You're uncomfortable selling to technical audiences.
- You want a pure "closer" role.
